Winter colour study

The Year 7 Scheme of Work about Colour began with the colour wheel. Once pupils had created their own colour wheel from the Primaries and introduced to Intermediate and Neutrals. The Year 7s were tasked with recreating a photo of holly.

The project pushed the students with recreating from a laminated photo using a grid in their sketchbooks. Which then made them look at the image analytically to gauge colours throughout the composition.

Once they had completed their watercolour painting after around 3 or 4 lessons, they were very excited to be able to take photos of their work to use a Christmas cards.
